The DWT facility
was not designed to be open to the public, but there is now the rare opportunity to see it from the inside. The purpose of these tours is to raise funds for the project, as well as to provide a unique opportunity for neighbors and friends to learn about this project and these magnificent creatures.

What you will see: the tour of the Dewar Wildlife facility includes gorilla villas, habitat, veterinary hospital, food preparation room, administration, and holding areas. Two young silverbacks from Zoo Atlanta came to Dewar Wildlife in February of 2012 and you'll get to meet them face to face!

When:  Most Tours are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (duration 2 - 3 hours).

What to expect: The tour will take place rain or shine; it is on mountainous terrain and there is small amount of walking on graveled roads involved, so dress accordingly. We drive from building to building, but there are stairs to some of the observation areas. However, special arrangements will be made for individuals in wheelchairs or who have difficulty walking or climbing stairs.

Reservations will be on a first come first served basis. Your reservation will be confirmed upon receipt of donation. If you cannot make your scheduled tour date, you may apply your donation to a future tour, if available, or consider it a donation. If the DWT has to cancel the tour for any reason, another date will be selected (donations will be refunded to anyone who cannot make the rescheduled date).

Private Tours? Yes, private tours are available and can be scheduled at a mutually convenient date and time. Cost is from $495. We'll also make sure you leave with a fine photograph of your encounter. This could be a once-in-a-lifetime gift that you could give for a birthday or anniversary to that special person who loves animals!
